Why Como?

Why Como?

Some places become inseparable from the things they make.

For silk, Como is one of them.

For centuries, this small region in northern Italy has been shaped by silk, from the mulberry trees once cultivated throughout the surrounding countryside to generations of artisans who learned how to weave, print, dye, finish, and handle the fabric with extraordinary care.

That history matters. But what drew me to Como was something even simpler: the attention to detail.

It is in the richness of a color. The precision of a print. The weight and feel of the fabric. The way an edge is finished by hand.

Our silk scarves are made in 100% silk twill and finished with hand-rolled edges. Our larger pieces are made in carefully selected wool and silk blends, with the same attention given to how the fabric moves, feels, and wears.

A detail begins in a painting. I take it apart, rework, and give it a new life. Then it passes into the hands of artisans in Como before eventually becoming something another person will wear, travel with, and perhaps keep for years.

That is why Como.

Not simply because it is known for silk, but because there is a deep understanding there of how much the smallest details matter.
