The Process — From Painting to Scarf
The Process — From Painting to Scarf
The creation of each Karnik by TK-LA scarf takes about six months from start to finish. My goal is to take these ornate, hand-painted designs and create something fresh and modern for today’s woman, without losing the artistry and richness of the original work.
Original Paintings
Once a design concept is set for the scarf, I carefully restore the painting by hand. This involves fine-tuning details, revising inconsistencies, sharpening images, and enhancing colors — a time-consuming process where even the smallest adjustment can make a difference.
Sampling & Refinement
After the design is prepared, samples are produced in Italy. These return in two to three weeks for review, where we test for quality, durability, and wearability. Adjustments are made as needed to ensure the final scarf meets our exacting standards.
Final Production
Once approved, the design goes to our family-owned mill in Como, Italy, where skilled artisans bring it to life in silk or wool. From Como to Los Angeles, each scarf embodies timeless craftsmanship, exquisite detail, and lasting artistry.
